Deutz lies directly opposite of Cologne's old town and offers a fabulous panorama view over the Rhein. Perfect location to look over is the Rhine Boulevard. If offers miles of stone banks to sit in the sunshine and sip on a cafe latte or drink a glass of wine with a fantastic view of the Cologne Cathedral.

Deutz offers numerous restaurants and pubs, like the boathouse, the b.o.n. ("Brauhaus ohne Namen" - brewery wo name), the Deutzer Brauhaus or Joe Champs, to name but a few. Furthermore, there are the Rheinterrassen, the Tanzbrunnen and the oldest beach bar in Cologne, the km689. The banks of the Rhine and the Rheinpark, the largest park in Cologne, offers its greens for strolling around and enjoying the fresh air.
Furthermore, the largest university of applied sciences in Germany, the FH Köln, is located in Deutz. A highlight is certainly the funicular crossing the river and allowing for great views - however, it has been out of operation since an accident in 2017 which is still examined.
The train station Köln Messe/Deutz is the counterpart to Cologne's main station on the right bank of the Rhine. It is the hub for local and long-distance traffic, and a cornerstone of the local public transport.
Rents and apartment prices are cheaper here than in the left bank of the Rhine. However, the prices have increased significantly over the last 5 years. You will find a mixed architecture. The residential areas can be found in the Southern part of Deutz. The Northern part is basically covered by the trains station and an industrial/business area. Heavily damaged by the bombs in the Second World War the dominating building type is the apartment block with simple plastered facades and built in the 50ies of last century. However, there are some remnants of Deutz history and gives the district its charme.
