Sachsenhausen is especially popular for its river banks with its many cafés and also museums. On the river itself, you will find multiple museums which host yearly events including the ever popular Museumsuferfest, allowing you to enjoy each museum at a heavily discounted price for three nights. Living in and travelling throughout Sachsenhausen is convenient and maintains long and short distance options. Just down from the river itself, is Sudbahnhof (South Train Station) which enables travelers the option of Bus, Tram or Train to everywhere in Frankfurt or further afield via the S-Bahn or U-Bahn.
By far, one of the most attractive aspects of living in Sachsenhausen for families are the amount of play parks for children, it’s locality to everything they need on a daily basis and the amount of childcare options although finding a place in Sachsenhausen for your little ones can take some time as spaces are limited for this family oriented part of Frankfurt so you would do best to contact Kitas and Kindergartens before you arrive to arrange this. A large Post Office is also located a minute’s walk from the Sudbahnhof train station.
To the west of Sachsenhausen, you will find the Universitätsklinikum offering emergency services as well as kinder clinics and operational areas. Being a teaching hospital, there are plenty of student doctors and nurses which assist the overall running of this riverside care center. It can be easily reached via Tram, Taxi or Car and is well known throughout the city.
Expect to pay around €15 per meter of space in Sachsenhausen, small apartments can be found for single occupants as well as larger more spacious apartments being available for families. Being closer to the river will cost you a bit more, but what you spend for more room, you’ll often recoup this by being closer to the river, shops and amenities.
