Bogenhausen is one of the villa quarters of Munich. Housing here is of an excellent standard, and the neighborhood is quieter. Gorgious mansions with big gardens behind high stone walls are the preferred location for the rich and wealthy. The most beautiful street is the Prinzregentenstrasse with its many villas. Bogenhausen is also a very popular district because it has access to the tranquil banks of the river Isar and its endless walkways. Likewise, the Englischer Garten is within close proximity. Also, you will find tourist attractions like the Prinzregententheater, the ‘Friedensengel’ (Angel of Peace) and Herzogpark. In the recent years a couple of office buildings have been erected.
Plenty of different people share this part of the city, especially families. Another very nice street is the Mauerkircher Strasse teeming with mansions. Many streets are lined by the wonderfully stuccoed town houses of the early 19th century. Actually, some “VIP” and wealthy fellows like Boris Becker live or have lived in Bogenhausen. This part of Munich is definitely worth strolling around, admiring the lovely facades and targeting towards the river banks of the Isar.

People being able to afford living in the more central areas of Bogenhausen go shopping on famous Maximilianstreet at Gucci, Hermes, and the-like. However, there is also the “other” Bogenhausen. Situated a little bit further North its center is the famous architectural landmark, the office building of HypoVereinsbank tower at Mittlerer Ring. Right next to it sits a popular first class hotel for Arabic visitors, which is an aweful piece of concrete construction but has been richly renovated from the inside. The Arabella Park (that’s what the immediate neighborhood is called is a nice arrangement of open air shopping mall with a couple of lunch places. The North of the district is otherwise dominated, with exceptions, by apartment blocks and settlements originating from after the 2nd World War.
The area is well connected thanks to the metro and the city center is only 20-25 minutes away. Restaurants and cafes are plenty, though more so in the central part.
